9 months

Cami is just a over 9 months old and she had her well-check visit with her pediatrician this week. He thinks she is doing great, even if she is a bit on the petite side. I wanted to list a few interesting facts about Cami at 9 months. I got this idea from my friend Liza's blog about her son, Rowen. Thanks, Liza!

So here is what Cami is up to:

  • 14 lbs. 5 oz. (1% percentile)

  • 1 tooth, with more on the way

  • prefers to feed herself finger foods rather than take anything from a spoon

  • favorite food is bread

  • very interested in things around her

  • claps her hands

  • gets up on her hands and knees and rocks

  • pushes herself backwards while on her hands and knees

Jason's Latest Project

I just wanted to update everyone on Jason's latest household project. He is replacing the banister between the kitchen and living room, as well as adding some new wiring and lighting to our living room. To do this we have had to move all our furniture into the middle of the room so Jason could cut out about a one foot strip of sheetrock all the way around the room. Cami and I spend a lot of our time in the living room, and it has been a bit of a challenge to keep Cami corralled and and out of the construction zone while she is playing. :) It will be worth it, though. We are getting some new sconces to add more light and putting in some network and cable jacks in usable places. :) I'll post some more pictures when our project is complete, which should be in the next few weeks. Keep your fingers crossed!

Maybe its the new bib?

I just wanted to share that Cami ate 2 teaspoons of oatmeal this afternoon!! That may not sound like a lot, but it is definitely a record for us. I mixed up one teaspoon of oatmeal to start with because she never even finishes that. Well, she ate that up without any coaxing at all so I mixed up a second teaspoon. The second teaspoon was a little slower going, but she finished it. She also took it from me, which is unusual. She always eats better when someone else feeds her. Maybe we are starting to get the hang of this. :) I was just so excited, I wanted to share! :)

On the move

Well...not quite. But she is up on her hands and knees and Mommy finally got a picture of it! This has all started just in the last few days and she is now proficient enough at it that I could get a picture. I know this means crawling is next, but I'm not ready! :( We have the standard baby-proofing items, like the outlet plugs and the latches for cupboards and drawers, but don't know what else we need to get. What kind of gates are the best? What do you do about cords and cables? Any suggestions of what worked for you would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help!

Hurry! Hurry!

I'm not a huge Oprah fan and don't ordinarily watch her show, but a friend told me about a giveaway they are doing on her website. I guess yesterday's show was all about organization and Snapfish is giving away a FREE 11x8 photo book to Oprah viewers. You just have to go to Oprah's website for yesterday's show and click on the link for 'Get your free book'. They are going to stop giving away coupons at midnight Friday and you have to order the photo book by Sunday at midnight. You only have to pay shipping (about $8) for a 20 page 11x8 photo book! My friend has already ordered hers! What a great deal, so I thought I'd share. I'm off to start working on mine now!

Note: You must have or create a Snapfish account and upload the pictures you want to use for your book.

***NOTE: The Snapfish website is VERY busy with people taking advantage of this offer. Just know it is very slow going at times. :(

More Halloween pictures

By popular demand I have posted some more pictures of our Halloween festivities on my Facebook account. Use this link to see them!

Guess who is 14 lbs!!

Cami has finally hit 14 pounds! It has been a long road between 13 and 14 pounds, with milk supply issues and Cami not eating solids or taking a bottle. She is very particular, this one! :) She gained 5 ounces since Halloween, so our efforts to increase my milk supply must be working. The lactation consultant was very pleased today. Cami is also taking strides in the solid food department. She will usually open her mouth at least two or three times for food at a sitting now. It's not much, but it's something. Thank you all for your prayers on this issue and keep 'em coming!

Cami - Our little ballerina

I didn't think I would even bother getting Cami a halloween costume. After all, she is only eight and a half months old. As halloween got closer, however, it looked more and more like we would need a costume. As it turned out, we attended two halloween parties, a visit to a nursing home, and trick-or-treating at Itron. I never got so much wear out of a costume! She wore it three days in a row! Anyway, as you can see from the pictures she was our little ballerina. She didn't seem to mind wearing the costume; in fact, she liked to chew on the pink tutu! :)

So, I'm finally trying this out!

So, I am finally going to try my hand at blogging! I have some friends' blogs that I am hooked on and it seems like such a great way to keep friends and family updated. Thanks to Angie for encouraging me!

I plan to post what is going on with us here in Spokane, and I'm sure that will include lots of pictures of Cami! So, welcome and come back often!
